About the Buns

The base of all of Caroline Corrente's buns is a yeasted brioche dough. The buns are soft and light and filled with a range of unique combinations. All of the chocolate buns are made with King Arthur Flour's black cocoa powder, which adds an intense chocolately flavor. My ingredients are all sourced locally whenever possible. Including but not limited to: King Arthur Flour, Monument Farms, Cabot Cheese, Stonecutter Spirtis, and Green Pasture Meats. Most of the herbs vegetables and fruits come from my own gardens and the eggs from my hens.

Juice Amour is owned and operated by Sheri Bedard and her father, David Bedard. It was the love and strong belief in the many health benefits of drinking fresh juice that started Juice Amour on its path to your backyard. We wake up early to produce local, raw, organic juice and products on site every day. Our juice cleanses are extremely popular and are a great way to introduce people to juicing. Everyday we wake up passionate in our belief that healthful food should be accessible, taste delicious, look beautiful, help you feel amazing and have as little negative impact on the environment as possible.

little seed COFFEE ROASTERS, located at 24 Merchants Row in downtown Middlebury, VT, is a welcoming and present approach to specialty coffee. Coffee culture, and the spaces where it is consumed, should provide a joyful and inclusive respite in our community. We are proud to keep these values at the heart of all we do - in our shop, in our customers’ homes, and in our wholesale partners’ businesses. We meticulously select and roast our coffees to bring out the best in each offering. At the core of little seed COFFEE ROASTERS, we want to make complex, eye-opening, flavor-forward coffee that is ethically-sourced, thoughtfully roasted, and acts as a vehicle for change, approachable for all. From the discerning coffee drinker, to the novice - specialty coffee and the spaces where it is enjoyed should provide a welcoming, warm, and joyful experience.

We work with green coffee buyers who are committed to paying the farmers and producers they work with better-than fair-trade wages; many times 50%-100% better than what is considered fair-trade. This enables farming families to make livable wages and develop generational wealth; uplifting their communities at large. The farms we work with produce outstanding coffees, and we feel fortunate to roast coffee that is carefully grown and cared for many miles from our Vermont home base. Each quarter, we rotate our single origins and espresso blend, while featuring some unique one-off offerings from time to time as well. While some of our coffees have secured organic certifications, many of the farms we purchase our green coffee from are far too small to have the resources to both prioritize paying for the certification, and undergo the process to achieve this. However, the farms we work with generally use organic and sustainable growing and producing practices.

We donate 5% of our profits each quarter to a carefully selected non-profit organization based in one of the locations our coffees are being sourced, through our ‘you sip, we give’ initiative. The recipient of our for our first ‘you sip, we give’ quarterly donation will be Chicuchas Wasi School for Girls in Cusco, Peru (where our Arturo Altamirano offering is sourced), and we are currently supporting ‘Days for Girls’, an NGO committed to uplifting girls through health education and access to menstrual solutions.

About the roasters:

The roasters, Maggie and Anthony, started roasting coffee a few years prior to opening little seed, wanting to take their own love and enjoyment of coffee to the next level. They began roasting on Maggie’s grandmother’s cast iron skillet from the 50s in their NYC apartment. This allowed them to get a feel for some of the intricacies of roasting and to understand the craft. From there, they began roasting on a small sample roaster while gaining more experience with large production roasters much like the they we have and work on now. All their coffee is roasted in small batches at their Middlebury, VT roastery and shop.

Matt and Aless met in 2011 in Bethel, Connecticut at Matt’s second coffee shop job. Aless came in for open mic night, noticed the cute barista behind the bar, asked for his number, and… they have been inseparable ever since. Pretty early on, the two began mentioning the idea of opening a coffee shop one day. In 2018, Matt and Aless decided to seriously start looking for locations for the shop. Middlebury was the obvious choice. This will be their 2nd location, after opening Royal Oak Coffee.

One of the reasons you come to Vermont is to enjoy the benefits of locally sourced fresh food from dedicated small farmers, artisan cheese makers and specialty meat suppliers. Our Chef prides himself on the creative use of these ingredients as he prepares delicious dishes that are both satisfying and memorable.

For Morgan’s Tavern, we acquire the freshest ingredients from Vermont producers and purveyors through the Vermont Fresh Network Partnership every day. Our philosophy is that fresh is always best. All of our food is cooked with the guest’s satisfaction in mind, to create a truly memorable and satisfying dining experience.

Be sure to stop in and enjoy our Afternoon Tea to try your favorite tea blend. Whether you are dining in Morgan’s Tavern, grabbing a beer and burger at the bar or attending a wedding reception, we believe you will want to come back for years to come to enjoy all the best that the Inn offers.

At Morgan’s Tavern, we are also aware of our environment. We compost all food waste and recycle all empty boxes and containers. We analyze how far food is traveling before arriving at our door to help cut down on carbon emissions. Any quality foods available to us that are local will always be preferred over foods that are trucked to Vermont from afar. Seasonally we are even able to travel to the Middlebury Farmer’s Market to source some of the freshest ingredients possible.
Morgan’s Tavern has been described as a 'Fresh Take on a Historic Public House'. With a focus on local Farm to Table dining, the Morgan’s Tavern offers creative menu selections in a classic New England style

The bakery has been in operation since 1986 when Ben & Sarah Wood first opened as Otter Creek Café & Bakery in The Frog Hollow Mill Building just down the street. Now, 35+ years later their tradition continues and has become a signature downtown business at 14 College Street in Middlebury.

The Woods' mantra was "we don’t go to work, but go to PLAY!" This same spirit still shows in the staff and product and you can join the fun via the bakery's open atmosphere. The team's hearts are in the kitchen and in the smiles that we deliver.

Rosie’s has been serving up home style meals to the Middlebury community for over thirty years and its site has been creating memories for many years before that. Rosie’s location on Rt. 7 south was home to Palmer’s Dairy Bar in the 1950’s before it became Rosie’s Restaurant in 1978. Some may still remember the original slogan that hung from its sign, 'Good Food, Plenty of it, and it don’t take all day to get it.'
