Tasting Rooms

From our solar-powered distillery, we are handcrafting a line of delicious, unique spirits that will delight the senses. These are not products bought in bulk and bottled straight out of the shipping container. These are spirits that we carefully — painstakingly — craft ourselves to meet our own exacting standards. Our spirits are balanced, rich in flavor, utterly unique, and made right here.

The Brewing home of the American Brewers Guild Brewing School as well as a tasting room for beer samples and growler fills. Products include Sunshine and Hoppiness, Heart of Lothian and Red Dwarf, as well as a wide range of special releases throughout the year.

The Drop-In Brewing Company has been in business since the summer of 2012. Opening their own brewery was a dream for Steve Parkes and Christine Mckeever-Parkes of Salisbury since purchasing the prestigious American Brewers Guild nearly 20 years ago. Their dream became a reality when they acquired an old plumbing supply building on Route 7 South in Middlebury. With more than 30 years of commercial brewing experience, beginning with his own degree in brewing science at Scotland’s Heriot-Watt University, Steve will continue to brew a variety of artisan beers, that will continue to advance the craft brewing movement here in Vermont, and in America.

Golden Rule Mead seeks to establish itself as a dependable and responsible participant in the Vermont agricultural industry by using ingredients from local apiaries, orchards, and other farms and producers to create surprisingly delicious and highly approachable meads. Mead (or honey wine) has begun re-entering the public consciousness along with the rest of the craft brewing industry. We plan to lead that resurgence by brewing a deliciously eclectic yet accessible and affordably priced palette of meads with a focus on sustainable, responsible growth, compelling innovation, and adding value to Vermont-sourced ingredients. Our mission within the alcohol manufacturing and distribution industries centers always on doing for others as we would have them do for us.

Our meads always begin with 100% VT honey and use a variety of other ingredients - locally sourced when possible - to produce a thoughtful array of characters. Golden Rule Mead is fermented dry (sugar-free), naturally gluten-free, receives no sulfites, and gets gently carbonated for an end product that you can feel good and feel good about drinking. Our products are available in stores around Vermont (see www.goldenrulebrew.com/find-us for more details), and our tasting room is currently open Fridays and Saturdays from 4 to 8 p.m. for tastings and bottle sales - feel free to bring a refillable bottle to fill from the taps!

Middlebury is home to trailblazers in craft beer, wine, cider, and spirits—distinctive adult beverages all produced in the historic shire town and all located within a 10 mile radius. We recommend having a designated driver so you can enjoy the tour safely. Depending on the day of the week, you can visit up to eight producers, taste a selection of products and talk with the experts about their creations.
